We looked at a few properties to rent in Skegness with Hill and Clark and I have to say that I have never been patronised more in my life than I was by the Manager who showed us around and quite frankly seemed like she couldn't wait for us to leave. She insinuated that the property we were looking at was out of our price range and was actually quite presumptuous and rude. She suggested that I 'get a job at McDonald's' and actually said 'kids these days are too lazy to get jobs' which I felt was aimed towards me when I am a 25 year old young professional who has been working solidly since the age of 14 and have had previous roles such as HR Coordinator and scuba diving instrutor. She clearly assumed that I was some sort of 'bum' because my partner has a job but I am yet to find one after relocating to Indonesia and working as a Divemaster for 6 months. A very snooty lady indeed with no patience for young people who are trying to make their way in life. Very disappointed to be treated like this.

Only giving a 1 star because a zero doesn't register. Absolutely shocking, no manners, hardly ever answer the phones and have no professionalism. Left a couple in a rented property with a new born with no proper heating and employ amateur contractors who attach new fence panels to snapped posts and claim that the problem is fixed.Absolute hash of a company

My experience with Hill & Clarke as a Landlord can only be described as frustrating and infuriating.Their customer service (to a Landlord) can only be described as: Abrupt, rude, combative and defensive.I used them for a rental property for around 2 years and during this time, this agent demonstrated a shocking lack of knowledge & professionallism. Our first tenants stopped paying after month 1 - not H&Cs fault, however, at the time we relied on this company to advise us about how to proceed and as such took a part payment from the tenants with the view our giving them some breathing space in order to catch up. This of course never happened and as such we made an insurance claim only to find that we had to wait for longer as the tenants had to be non-paying for a period of time and because we took a part payment, we couldnt yet claim until this time elapsed.Id have expected a professional estate agent to know about this and advise before hand.Fast forward a year, with new tenants. Monthly additional costs to investigate noisy pipes, fix leaks, replace electrical sockets and and at one point we stopped authorising these repairs in order to get quotes from other tradespeople rather than use the agents preferred. A reasonable action in my book. However, H&C were quite upset by this and entered into an incredibly defensive diatribe about our legal obligations to jump for our tenants. Despite me assuring them we have no problem paying for repairs, but wed rather have a second opinion, H&C were incredibly pushy and borderline, rude. The final straw was receiving an email from Paula telling us that they only act within the law (all we wanted was a second quote on a non-urgent issue!) Despite me emailing them asking for an explanation as to why they feel we are not acting with the law, and voicing my concern over their dismissive and defensive behaviour, I never did recieve a response. I even complained to their Boston branch and spoke to an Area Manager (Michael) who promised a call back - which never came.Following on from this, we eventually ended the tenants lease and what happened next was frankly remarkable: We received a call from the H&C Skegness office asking if wed refund the Tenants last payment as he told them he forgot to cancel his mandate - meaning he never had the intention of paying his last month. Obviously my response was no, why would I ever refund a tenant because they didnt want to pay!? This was met with the comment OK, so you want to stick to the contract then?Well, I think that goes without saying. What sort of agent would ask this?!H&C are probably very good to deal with as a tenant, they clearly prefer them over landlords. As a landlord, they dont see you as a customer so avoid, stick with a firm that knows what they are doing who have well trained and attentive staff. In the end, we ended our relationship as fast as we could to avoid any further hassle.Funny enough, there is another review online with a similar sentiment.

Having moved twice with Hill and Clark skegness, i have nothing but praise for their help, efficiency and concern for myself . I would highly recommend them. Sam and Paula thank you so much for your help .
